FAQs

What modalities are included?

Our team brings both professional training and lived experience, offering therapy that’s collaborative, transparent, and rooted in respect and clinical competence.

Our approach centers:

  • Relational safety over rigid protocol

  • Cultural humility over assumption

  • Understanding survival adaptations over pathology

  • Healing that honors both evidence and intuition

Whether you’re here to heal, reconnect, or redefine—our work together begins with your story.

How does therapy work at Lotus Warrior Wellness Center?

Our therapy process begins with:

  1. Free consultation where you can ask questions to determine if we are a fit for you.

  2. From there, you will be scheduled for an initial intake appointment —either in-person or virtually. The specific assessment process is dependent on the type of therapy you are seeking and this will be discussed during your appointment.

  3. Once your assessment has been completed, together we’ll co-create a plan tailored to your needs. This is a collaborative process, rooted in safety, trust, and honoring your lived experience.

  4. Ongoing sessions are scheduled once we have agreed upon a plan. You are expected to be an active participant in your therapy process.

Who We Work With

We support people who are:

  • Healing from trauma, grief, or rupture

  • Experiencing anxiety, depression, or burnout

  • Seeking relationship repair or deeper connection

  • Navigating identity shifts or cultural dissonance

  • Parenting, co-parenting, or tending to family complexity

  • Leading in systems that weren’t built for their full selves

  • Wanting space to grow, feel, reconnect, and lead with integrity

If you’ve ever felt out of place—or like you’ve had to hold it all together just to get by—we see you. You belong here.

We offer affirming care for individuals, couples/partnerships, and families. We particularly center those who have been marginalized by traditional care systems, including queer, BIPOC, neurodivergent, and other historically marginalized communities.

Do you offer telehealth in California?

Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy for clients throughout California. Many clients find virtual sessions just as effective, especially when balancing busy lives, caregiving, or limited access to local care. In-person sessions may also be available depending on your location and therapist availability.

How Long are Therapy Sessions?

We offer a variety of options depending on your individual needs.

  • 50-minute sessions

  • 90-minute extended sessions

  • Single- or multi-day intensive sessions for immersive experiences

  • Online Teleheath sessions throughout California

  • In-person care in Gold River, CA

Services provided by licensed therapists, associate clinicians, and supervised graduate level students.

We’ll work together to build a structure that honors your goals, capacity, and rhythms.

Is therapy accepted under insurance?

Lotus Warrior Wellness Center does not accept insurance as a form of payment. All payment is provided by you at the time of service. However, we are considered an out-of-network provider. For those who are interested and have insurance plans who provide reimbursement for out-of-network provider care, we can provide you with a “superbill” (a detailed receipt) and do the work on your own to seek reimbursement from your insurance plan.

Before choosing to use your out-of-network benefits, it's important to understand:

  • Coverage varies. Not all plans include out-of-network mental health benefits. Reimbursement amounts, deductibles, and covered services (e.g., telehealth or couples therapy) differ widely.

  • Medical necessity is required. Most insurance companies will only reimburse for therapy they consider "medically necessary," which means a formal mental health diagnosis must be included. This diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record.

  • Privacy and choice. Paying privately offers greater confidentiality, flexibility in treatment goals, and autonomy—without needing to meet insurance criteria or share sensitive information beyond our work together.

We encourage you to contact your insurance provider to clarify your coverage before beginning therapy if reimbursement is important to you.
